2011 FREE MATHCOUNTS REGISTRATION
Dear Mathcounts Coach,
Thank you for visiting my website.
I am a student at Phillips Academy. I have coached middle school students for the MATHCOUNTS competition these past two years. Last year, I brought two Title I school teams to the regional Mathcounts competition.
If your school is unable to register your team for the 2010-2011 Mathcounts competition due to financial problems, I would like to offset the registration costs for your school.
I have raised some money enough to pay for about 50 to 100 schools to cover the costs of the 2010-2011 Mathcounts competition registration fee (with a preference for Title I schools and first time registrants).
If you would like to be considered as one of these schools that will receive a free registration for Mathcounts, please send the following information to my email address at mymathcounts@gmail.com and I will do my best to register on behalf of your school.
I would also like to send my book in pdf format "Twenty Problem Solving Skills for Mathcounts Competition" free of charge to any coach from Title I schools, so if you would like that please email me as well.
Thank you again and I am looking forward to hearing from you,
Jane Chen

Dear Mr. Battin,
My name is Jane (Jenny) Chen and I will be a senior this fall at Phillips Academy, Andover, MA.
Two years ago, I founded a community service project at my school in order for underprivileged elementary and middle school kids to have the opportunity to compete in MATHCOUNTS and other math competitions as well as develop their problem solving skills.
This year I registered two teams of my group of kids in Math Counts for the MATHCOUNTS competition. I used my money to pay for the registration fee since both the schools were reluctant to fund for the math competition. This competition was the very first math competition for all of the kids and they all very much enjoyed it.
I am a MATHCOUNTS National Round alumni of the year 2007 and have been an avid math contest competitor. This summer, I compiled a collection of files containing all the skills that I feel helpful for MATHCOUNTS and other math competitions. In order for an easy access to these pdf files, I also created the website
www.mymathcounts.com
MATHCOUNTS was as a bridge for me to other math competitions and into the world of mathematics. Because of the huge impact this competition has made on my life, and so that more students can have the opportunity to compete in this competition, I would like to give some of the money that I have raised from the twenty pdf files to the MATHCOUNTS foundations so that Title I schools do not have to provide a registration fee in order to participate in MATHCOUNTS.
I am aware that currently Title I schools are given a discount, but I hope that this money will waive the fee completely for a number of schools (I know this money is not enough to pay the registration fee for every Title I school).
Thank you very much, and I hope to be in touch soon with how I should proceed to donate the money.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of the summer!
Best regards,
Jenny |

Jenny,
I think we might have a good solution. We list in the coach's section of the website possible sources of revenue for their club and competition programs. We could list your website there, noting that you are willing to offset the registration costs for some title one schools with a preference for first time registrants. They could then contact you directly through your website (we'll link from ours) and you could either approve or deny reimbursements as you see fit. Please take a look at the link below to view
the page where we would place your information and let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!
Clay
